What it does

If a driver completes and passes the course, the department adds the ticket to the driving record but does not post the points, and neither is reported to the driver's insurance company.

Who can take it

If a driver is eligible, the Michigan Department of State sends a letter saying the driver has 60 days to enroll in and complete the course, if the driver chooses to do so.

Tickets received in another state are not eligible for the course.

Who approves it

The Secretary of State approves course sponsors, and enters into an agreement with them, if the sponsor's course meets the requirements in the law.
