What it does

The premium reduction lasts for 3 years after the course is completed, though the insurer may set conditions for keeping it.

Who can take it

Florida law requires insurers' rates to give an appropriate premium reduction when the vehicle's main driver is an insured aged 55 or older who has completed a motor vehicle accident prevention course approved by the Department.

Course length

The Department sets the minimum number of hours needed to complete a course.

Certificate

The organization offering the course gives each person who completes it a certificate to use to qualify for the premium discount.

Good to know
